Why is tempered glass applied to lighting?

Toughened glass, also known as safety glass, is a method of increasing the strength of glass by applying compressive stress to the surface of the glass through chemical or physical means. When the glass is subjected to external forces, the surface stress is first counteracted, thereby improving the load-bearing capacity and enhancing the glass's resistance to wind pressure and impact performance.

Due to its superior performance compared to ordinary glass, toughened glass is favored by various industries, such as lighting fixtures, televisions, refrigerators, doors and windows, mobile phone screens, and more.

Improved safety: In terms of safety, when other types of glass are damaged, their sharp edges can easily cause harm. Toughened glass greatly improves the fragility by enhancing its load-bearing capacity. Even if it is broken, it will shatter into small, blunt, honeycomb-shaped particles that are less likely to cause harm to the human body.

High impact resistance: In our perception, toughened glass is much stronger than ordinary glass, and this is indeed the case. Toughened glass of the same thickness has 3-5 times the impact strength and bending strength of ordinary glass, making it a reinforced version of ordinary glass.

Good thermal stability: Toughened glass also has good thermal stability and can withstand temperature differences of over 250 degrees Celsius. It is commonly used in high-temperature resistant pool lights to prevent thermal cracking.
