Heat Soaked Glass        

Heat soaked glass, also known as heat soak testing or heat soaked tempered glass, is a process used to reduce the risk of spontaneous breakage in tempered glass. During the heat soak test, tempered glass panels are subjected to elevated temperatures for an extended period of time. This process aims to identify and eliminate any tempered glass panels that may contain nickel sulfide inclusions, which can potentially cause spontaneous breakage.

Nickel sulfide inclusions are tiny impurities that can be present in the glass during the manufacturing process. These impurities have the potential to expand over time, leading to stress and breakage of the tempered glass. By subjecting the glass to high temperatures during the heat soak test, any panels containing these impurities are more likely to break, allowing them to be identified and removed before installation.

Heat soaked glass is considered to be more reliable and safer than regular tempered glass, as it reduces the risk of spontaneous breakage. It is commonly used in applications where glass breakage could pose a significant safety hazard, such as in high-rise buildings, facades, and overhead glazing.
